Our area has experienced an unprecedented amount of storms that have brought and abundance of rain to our ponds.  This excessive and unusual rain in the Los Angeles areas has caused problems in many ponds.

Rain is typically acidic. When rain falls, it captures pollutants from the air coming from vehicles and factories making it even more acidic. This may cause the pH to drop in ponds, especially shallow ponds.

Lower pH is more unstable in fish ponds and can fluctuate.

In addition, the run-off water from surrounding grounds or roofs can pollute ponds by bringing in fertilizers and other foreign pollutants to a pond.

All this can make the fish in a pond lethargic, and it can lower their immune system making them susceptible to parasites and diseases and ultimately cause death.

The effects are not immediately noticeable and the domino effect of fish becoming sick or dying becomes apparent well after the storm has passed.

Not only do we want a beautiful pond, but we care about the health of the fish which is why we are sharing this information with you.  We have had a couple of ponds that have experienced fish loss, and this is very saddening for all of us.

While the storms themselves are a Force Majeure, we are here to help with cleanups.  The biggest challenge is scheduling to ensure all our customers are uniformly addressed based on observations of the fish and committing to a site visit.   

It is critical for you to advise us if you notice any unusual behavior in your koi or goldfish.

We also recommend to stop feeding them until you hear back from us.
